Corruption in the Open in New Jersey
New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez and his wife have been indicted on bribery charges. This is the second set of corruption charges he faces in a decade.
The people of New Jersey deserve to be represented by principled leaders who strive for integrity in all that they do. Sadly, the legacy parties are no longer prioritizing character when getting behind candidates—they’re more interested in winning than seeing good people win. While Sen. Menendez is entitled to a fair trial, the conduct alleged in the indictment is unacceptable. This is a breach of the Forward Party’s core value of upholding integrity in the electoral process.
More broadly, the fact that Sen. Menendez has been indicted twice for fraud during his time in the Senate and continues to be elevated to high-profile committee positions is more than enough evidence for why we need to end the two-party duopoly and have more competition in the political process.
The Forward Party is committed to helping all Americans. Together, we will keep fighting to return power to the people and elect principled public servants who put their constituents’ interests above their own enrichment.
