Colorado Springs elected its first non-Republican mayor in history last year, and it seems that this is just the beginning. The state is known for its independent streak, but the ambivalence to the two legacy parties is growing with each passing year. The new mayor, Yemi Mobolade says the reason he won is that he ran to represent people who “don’t like the party chaos,” and who just want to “live our quiet lives.”
